Meet our new CFO, Joanne Hart
We were delighted to welcome Joanne to the Aspire Central Services Team at the beginning of this school year. Jo has joined us as Chief Finance Officer (CFO) and will be working with all of our schools and The Training Centre by Aspire.
Speaking about the recent appointment, CEO Vicky Parsey said "It's an absolute pleasure to have Jo as part of our dynamic Central Services Team. She has already settled in so well. We are really looking forward to using her wealth of experience and knowledge to improve our financial systems and processes".
What is your previous work experience?
I have worked in education for 10 years across 4 MATS, including primary and secondary and a newly opened free school. Before that I trained at Deloitte’s and worked for a media company pre a career break to bring up my children.
How would you describe yourself in three words?
Open, meticulous, friendly
What is a typical day like in your role as CFO?
At the moment it feels like I am doing a complex jigsaw puzzle, working out my new environment.
What excites you about working for Aspire Academies Trust?
I’m excited by the Trust oriented approach, and the opportunities this gives to all the schools involved.
What is the biggest challenge we face in the next year?
As with all schools, keeping a balanced budget when faced with costs increasing faster than income.
What is your favourite memory from your time working in education?
Working in a newly opened free school, in a 15th century tithe barn with no walls overlooking a golf course. Only 22 pupils and 4 staff – that was an experience!
What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?
Plan for the future but remember to enjoy the present.
