Things to do with children during the October Half-Term in Hertfordshire

With the Autumn term in full swing, we wanted to pull together a list of local activities for kids and families in Hertfordshire during the 2021 October Half-Term holidays. 

There are a variety of events local to our schools around Watford and Hemel Hempstead. 

Not all events have been tried and tested by us, so please do read more detail about them on their own websites and keep an eye on any updates, as things could change due to COVID-19.

 

> Sat 9th - Sun 31st Oct | Pumpkin Patch at Rumblers Farm Shop | Hemel Hempstead | Free
The Pumpkin Patch displays are free to enter, but you can also pick and pay for your own pumpkin this Halloween.

> Sat 23rd - Sun 31st Oct | Aldenham Country Park Spookfest | Elstree | £7.50
Families can enjoy the spooky trail, pumpkin picking and carving, horrid hay tractor ride, pumpkin bingo, decorations throughout the farm and much more.

> Sat 23rd - Sun 31st Oct | Pop-Up Farm Pumpkin Patch | St Albans | £TBC
Start a new family tradition or relive childhood memories by getting outside and enjoying the crisp autumn air while you pick your own pumpkins and squashes at The Pop-Up Farm.

> Sat 23rd - Sun 31st Oct | Pumpkin Spooktacular at Mead Open Farm | Billington | £11.45-£15.55
Includes Halloween attractions, Fairy Tale Villains trail, Tiny Terrors tractor ride and pumpkin patch with free pumpkin for every child.

> Mon 25th - Fri 28th Oct | Ashridge House Gruesome Gardens | Berkhamsted | £2.50-£8.50
Follow the Halloween trail around the Gruesome Gardens to locate a series of creepy clues, tricks and stories hidden amongst the grounds at Ashridge House, however beware of unwanted friends along the way! Will you be able to locate the pirates’ treasure chest and make it out of the gardens unscathed to collect your Halloween treat?

> Mon 25th - Fri 29th Oct | Knebworth Gardens Halloween Trail | Knebworth | Free-£8.50
Fancy dress is encouraged in this spooky trail around the gardens at Knebworth House. Children will look out for all things Halloween by solving the clues in their Halloween riddles, and taking part in fun-filled activities and crafts.

> 25th - 31st Oct | Halloween Storyboat & Craft Sessions at Frogmore Papermill | Apsley | £9
Frogmore Papermill offer themed drop in crafting sessions and pre-booked storyboat trips during school holidays. 

> Sat 30th Oct | Spooktacular Stay & Play | Hemel Hempstead | £4-£8
Stay & Play Softplay are holding a Halloween party, with a spooky softplay maze, carnival games and sweet treats to take home.

> Thu 28th - Sun 31st Oct | Halloween at Hatfield House | Hatfield | £10-£15
Entry includes the Halloween Theatrical Trail, Pimp a Pumpkin  and a Spooktacular disco!

THINGS TO DO WITH CHILDREN IN HERTFORDSHIRE DURING THE EASTER HOLIDAYS

We have put together a list of events around Hertfordshire for families to enjoy over the 2022 Easter break.  We have tried to keep local to our schools in Hemel and Watford Not all activities have been tried and tested by us, so please do read more detail about them on their own websites and keep an eye on any updates, as things could change due to COVID-19 restrictions.   > 10th Apr - 22nd Apr | The Golden Goose Hunt | Hemel | £8.50 Can you help find the Golden Goose? There have been sightings all around the grounds of Ashridge House and mysterious golden eggs appearing > 11th Apr - 18th Apr | Easter Adventures in Nature | Berkhamsted | £3 There are 10 trail points for you to find around Ashridge Estate, each with a different fun activity. You will discover what’s so special about this area in spring, and earn a delicious Rainforest Alliance chocolate egg. > 10th Feb - 19th Apr | The Big Hoot | Hemel Hempstead | free This exciting trail will see 12 individually designed Big Hoot owls placed around Hemel Hempstead town centre, Old Town, Gadebridge Park and the Water Gardens for everyone to see and enjoy. > 10th Apr- 18th Apr | Easter at Aldenham Country Park  | Bushey | £7.50 After a two year hiatus Easter returns, bigger and better than ever. Discover frightfully fun offerings such as; the Easter Egg Hunt, Hoppy Hay Tractor Ride, Dance Tunnel, Bouncy Castle, Bear Hunt, decorations throughout the farm and much more! > 15th Apr- 18th Apr | Easter Trail at Knebworth House  | Knebworth | £1 Follow the Trail around Knebworth Gardens to gather all the Easter clues and solve the word jumble. There will also be a craft activity available between 12pm and 3pm.         This ticket will include access to Knebworth Park, Gardens, Adventure Playground with Fort Knebworth and Dinosaur Trail.
